Dr Mark McDonogh

Doctor

Dr Mark McDonogh received his MB.Ch.B from Pretoria University in 1974 and completed a one year internship at Tembisa Hospital, Midrand. Dr McDonogh then worked as a Medical Officer in the Surgical Department of Garankuwa Hospital for 18 months before moving to Vanderbijlpark to work as a General Practitioner at the Vanderijlpark Medical Benefit Fund.

After 3 years in Vanderbijlpark, Dr McDonogh then bought a practice in Scottburgh in 1978 after a short 6 month locum in Pietermaritzburg. Dr McDonogh ran his practice in Scottburgh offering all aspects general medicine for 19 years. He then moved with his family to Pietermaritzburg where he worked at Medicross for the next 18 years. His next 3 years were spent working at the Intercare Clinic in Kempton Park where he moved with his family to be closer to his eldest son. As an opening arose to work with Dr Gary Morris in Scottburgh, he and his family decided to move back to Scottburgh to continue General Medical Practice here.

Dr McDonogh has been practicing medicine for 43 years.

I enjoy all aspects of general practice. I do especially enjoy working with diabetic patients and helping those who suffer from anxiety and depression. Working with children of all ages is a great pleasure as well as helping the elderly with ravages that beset this age group.

My outside interests are mainly improving my skills on the piano and more recently in archery.

I have been married to my wife, Lorraine, for 48 years and we have 6 children and 15 grandchildren who we spend much time keeping in contact with.
